Autumn in Connecticut

Hi Everyone,

I hope all of you are well and enjoying life.

Mom has been back in the hospital again and was transferred back into a nursing home/rehab place again tonight. It has meant long hours of driving back and forth, and by the time I get home, I just want to relax and play without having to think!

Yesterday and today, we managed to make some time to get out and take pictures of some of the beautiful scenes that surround us. I had promised to share a little bit of autumn with you, and this is a particularly magnificent autumn here, so I'm happy to share these pictures with you. The leaf colors are now at peak for leaf peeping, so I hope you enjoy these images. I've included a few more than usual, because who knows when I'll be able to post again?! I'm not exactly reliable these days. ;-)

Mr. Sandpiper is on vacation this week and we had planned to go away, but with Mom being hospitalized, we've had to postpone things. We are hoping to get away sometime this coming week, for a couple of days, once my sister returns from her vacation. Timing is everything, isn't it? If we go away, I might have some more pictures to share with you soon, provided that the situation allows me the time to do it.

These pictures are all taken very close to where I live in a variety of locations. As always, you can click the pix to see them larger.

Okay, I guess I'll see you when I see you... it's the best I can do for now. In the meantime, I miss you all.

Oh wow...Such lovely colors! I particularly like the one with the red house in it, although they're all beautiful.
Wishing you & your mom well. *hug*

Ooo, you get such beautiful reds out there!! That's one colour we don't get to enjoy much of ~ except we happen to have 4 trees around that provide us with plenty of red and orange!

All our leaves are down now and tonight, we're actually getting our first freezing rain. Winter's really on its way up here already. Sigh.

Glad to hear your mom's well and I hope she'll continue to improve.

Sorry that your mom's not doing well. Hopefully, just a short term thing. Glad to see that you made time to be out in nature...it's the best way to take care of yourself.

Linn, these are wonderful! I love the way you add a barn, or silo or house or fence and not just the leaves. It gives such a feel for what the whole area looks like. I like that windmill! I'm sorry your mom has been worse and I keep both of you on my prayer list. I hope you get those few days away soon. We've learned that even a short vacation is wonderful, just because it is "away" somewhere! Here's a hug...take care and keep looking around you at the beauty...it will help nurse your spirit.

The colours!! I was lucky enough to be out east a couple of years ago in September, and while I certainly didn't get to see fall at its most colourful, I was in awe. Your photos do such a good job of capturing the look and feel of the area.

I miss the changing of the leaves. I grew up in Rhode Island so I'm very familiar with the New England area. Now that I live in Florida, I obviously don't have the opportunity to witness the yearly spectacle. Thanks for bringing back memories of raking big piles of leaves and then jumping in them. Feel good. Blessings!

Stunning colours and photographs! Your area is at the same stage of autumn as Toronto is, with green foliage mixed with the maturing colours.

Best wishes for you and your mother's health. We can wait for photos, but you need to be with your mother at this time.
