Silver Sands Trail 2

Continuing, Part One was here: Silver Sands Trail 1

As I walked, I watched a plane flying overhead
.

.
I could see the shore and people were out on the beach relaxing, swimming, and playing in the sand. I thought about the people who live in those condos. What views they must have!
.

.
.
Some of the planes flying overhead were toys
.
There were wild turkeys there picking in the grasses
.
.
.
A loud car went by and scared them off
.
.
Male Red-Winged Blackbird
.
And a female RWBB
.

.
Nesting Osprey - There is a wonderful live cam located on this nest. It looks right into the nest and you can see the two youngsters in there. They're getting quite big now and probably won't be there much longer. http://67.86.143.68:81/view/index.shtml I love this cam!
.
A sailboat. You can see the weather is becoming hazy now
.
Leaving Silver Sands, just a short distance down the road is an Audubon place. There wasn't much to see there on this day, but this is the path I took
.
There were roses along the side of it
.
Gorgeous colors
.
And Prickly Pear Cactus was growing on the beach. Yes, we do have a native cactus that grows wild here. That surprises a lot of people
.
I'm not sure, but I think I read these plants are either threatened or endangered. We used to have them growing in our garden and my in-laws had a lot of them growing along the fence by their pool
.
That ended this day at the beach trail. Just a little walk for now.
.
Have a great day.

Yes another great walk. The air sure is hazy as it is here. Today much cooler and lots more comfortable. I love that turkey in flight. I tried to view the Osprey nest, but am unable to downoad the web-site for some reason. Thanks again for the walkalong.

The condos and view make me thing of times past when people summered at hotels and cottages near the sea. It looked so relaxing. There were so many spectacular picture here I can't begin comment on all of them. Thanks for sharing your walk. So many wonderful things to see.

The only place I have ever seen wild turkeys was on highway 95 between the Eastport border crossing (U.S./Canada) and Bonner's Ferry in Idaho. They are beautiful birds and know when it's hunting season, because they run and hide in the bushes at the side of the road.

That 'spooked' turkey is the picture of the day for me! Wow you really nailed that one!

i like the plane's rear dynamic design. it's quite unique.

i like this post because you're showing a plane and a bird.

You certainly have a knack for making a walk come alive for us. I'm not sure we would see so much beauty without your particular take on the walk.

Lin: Very nicely done, you always show a nice diversity from your walks that holds your interest. I loved the flying turkey shot also.

I so enjoy your walks. These were great photos but I think I'm with everyone else. That turkey in flight was something else!

Isn't the turkey in flight incredible. I didn't realize that they could actually fly until about two years age. Same thing someone scared them off and they took off. I was in awe. Didn't get a photo of it though. Very enjoyable walk today. I love the close ups of the flowers at the end.

The condos were kind of depressing, but the toy plane cheered me right back up!

Hi SisSTAR Sandpiper xoxo
Saw a family of wild turkeys in VA yrs ago and peacefully! stalked them into the woods where they were so camouflaged we could hardly ever see them ... but we found a pile of feathers (which I am sorry, I just had to take some of the very long ones) where they'd been doing some fighting or making whoopee or ?? The planes reminded me of the other day we were sitting in our lounge chairs in the yard when a blimp!!! went right over our heads! with Snoopy on his doghouse advertising MetLife! It was fun ... and YOUR photos and choices always make me so calm and happy. Thanks from my heart. I appreciate you. KLH

I like the second female RWBB photo.-They are one of the more interesting looking of the female species._ I was totally fooled by them when they showed up at my feeders one day in late winter.
