A Little Visit

I recently stopped by some of my favorite walking places. There wasn't much going on there, so I turned around and went home. The clouds were building in the sky, making quite an impression
~

A baby bird called out from the depths of the branches.
"Feed me, Feed me"
~

The widowed swan still is at the pond. I wish she would find a new companion.
~

Cedar Waxwings were flying to and from the tops of the trees. Always in the distance for me
~

This Rose of Sharon was at the cemetery across the street from the pond. This is where I saw the turtles laying eggs some time back. I walked over to check on the egg-hatching progress, and saw some recent digging, but was unable to determine if something had been digging in or if turtles might have been digging out.
~

Far up in the farmer's field, I saw a lot of turkeys. Many of them were babies. You might see the babies as little dots in the grasses, if you click on the picture to enlarge it. A terrible picture, but a record that they were there.
~

At the boardwalk, a storm front was moving in
~

Pretty dramatic with the grey taking over the blue, so I zoomed a little

Hedge Bindweed

Goldenrod
~

Queen Anne's Lace
~

The Purple Loosestrife is nearly shoulder high now. I saw a hummingbird moth there, but it moved off too quickly for me to get a picture
~

Touch-me-nots are now in full swing
~

This much goldenrod in bloom tells me that autumn is not far away. The air has begun to dry out and feels cool and crisp here now

Broadleaf Arrowhead

Bee on Pickerelweed

A monarch butterfly kept pace with me as I walked, always staying a few feet in front of me.

On the way home, a good sized group of wild Canada Geese crossed the road in front of the car. So, there you have it. A short trip, but at least I was able to get out for a little while.
~
I hope all of you are well. Things are going fine here, but I've been pretty burned out with a lot of things, so this break is helping me a lot. Thank you so much for all of your notes, comments, emails and good wishes. I'll try to get by and visit some blogs soon, and once I'm a little more rested and organized, I'll get back to a more consistent schedule of blogging, even if it can't be everyday. We'll see how it goes. Have a wonderful day.

What joy your photographs are. I am so glad that you have taken as my mothers "Time to smell the Roses".
Take care and take more photographs.

Who needs a flower guide book when I have you! :-) Being somewhat deficient in being able to name them, I appreciate the lesson I get in addition to enjoying their beauty.

Another lovely walk. You take all the time you need Lin. We'll all be by to check in and see how things are going. Know that you and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers. Have a beautiful day.

There may not have been much going on, but you took great pictures of it not happening :-) All of those flowers look so pretty, it makes you wonder why people decide they are "weeds". The sky shots with the grey overtaking the blue were very nice! Really shows the drama. I've seen more days recently with big fluffy clouds, that it seems unusual. I feel fall approaching, too. Hope you continue to get out a bit and get some rest. We worry about you! Praying for you and your mom.

Well - for nothing's happening you sure got a lot of pictures to disprove you! :)
But it really is quite quiet this time of year!

Lovely little trip you took. The swan makes me sad. I hope she finds another mate, too. I love the storm coming in pictures from the boardwalk. ALL the flowers are fabulous, and the monarch is pretty as well. Nice post, and again, do what works for you. As for me, you're in my reader, so I know when a new one comes along!

Lin: What a wonderful little trip and I loved the Turkey photo. You could see the little ones concealed in the grass.

Refreshing walk Lin. Many of the flowers in your post are in full bloom here too.
Those clouds shots are the same as we get, and you can tell the seasons are certainly changing.
So glad you are getting rested.

We have a wildlife walk/drive through place in this area called Mingo Job Corp. I just love to explore the boardwalk there too. It's just so neat.
Great photos!

I'm right there with you as far as the commenting goes. This is the first time since early last week I've been able to be on!

Haven't our clouds been incredible of late?

Your walk was lovely - thank you!

That last photo reminded me of Beatrix Potter's stories with the farm animals wandering about the country lanes - such a calming feeling.

I've never known the name of some of the plants/flowers you posted so thank you for that. I may not remember them all but I'll remember the Queen Ann's Lace for sure. As always, love your walks and the photos! :-)

When I saw your photo of the widowed swan w/ her head bowing down - it made me so sad - I hope and pray she finds a mate!

Wow. That is the kind of place that seems to give off a magnetic force, transforming your readers to ask the existential question, "Why can't I go there and just be there for the rest of my life?".

First time I saw a hummingbird moth was in my yard picking a bouquet of tall white phlox and it zoomed into my bouquet and was right in front of my face. I thought it was a tiny hummer at first, then it was so unbelievably gorgeous and interesting, it took me a very long time to know what it was. Have only seen it again one time in the coneflowers. Sure wish I could get a photo, too! It was right in front of my nose, like a tiny fairy!!
Best to you from Kyle xo

Lin, I hope all is well with you. Being overwhelmed with the season and life is something I completely understand. I haven't read blogs on two weeks and I'm trying to catch up a little. It's all I can do to put up 3 posts a week - and that's a struggle!

Enjoy your break and come back rested.

Goldenrod? Not ready for that yet...

Such lovely photos! I especially love the wild turkeys, I would love to see one. It's interesting seeing what wildflowers we have in common - the purple loostrife is wonderful here too - a little old but still lovely. Glad to see you are getting the occasional chance to go out and enjoy the world.

Glad you're enjoying your time out.
Such a nice walk you have here.
It's nice to see the differnces between what's flowering with you and over here. We're a little behind, it seems. (so autumn may not be coming as quickly for us)
Very nice sequences.

My goodness but your photos just keep getting more gorgeous. Too many stunning ones to mention in a comment but I'm especially fond of the bee on the pickerelweed. (sp?)

I hope you're well. :-)
