Steam or smoke (?) rising from a stack, as the late afternoon sun goes lower in the sky. This picture was taken from the cliff at my in-laws house in Connecticut, which overlooked the Connecticut River. (You can click to see it larger)
I think by next week, things should be better for posting again. I'm feeling a lot better, but I have some swelling in my ankles, which keeps me from being on the computer. Thanks for all the nice notes, comments, and emails. I'm fine, but I need to limit my time on the computer for now. I'm looking forward to visiting your blogs soon. I have so much to catch up on and I miss you all. To the newcomers, I'll be by to visit all of your blogs soon, too. Thank you.
You can see another of my SkyWatch pictures at TWISI. SkyWatch: Blue Skies
It will soon be Friday in some parts of the world, so this will be my contribution to Skywatch Friday hosted by Tom Wigley. Please visit his blog to see more SkyWatch pictures.
I would like to thank June at Spatter, for giving Sandpiper's Place the Arte y Pico Award. I am honored and I've proudly placed the award on my Awards Page.

i'd say smoke, for sure :(
lovely shot, though :)
I love your sunsets and sunrises Lin. The colors are always so wonderful and no two are ever the same. I look forward to you getting better and being back with us.
What a beautiful photograph, very magical! Thanks also for the link to Tom's blog and "skywatch." I've bookmarked them! Roxanne
Beautifully shot! Love the color
Once upon a time there was this great and fantastic group of people who blogged and photographed … with a click, click here, a snap, snap there, all of them had a week to look upon the sky … day and night, by dusk or dawn, sunrise or sunset … and always there where great and fantastic photos to be seen when SKY WATCH was opened …
I am one of those proud sky watchers and I really enjoy each and every one of the photos you show us. I really think you are a first class sky watcher!
Hope you're feeling better, and back to blogging world soon. Nice view of the river.
Beautiful, beautiful picture!
The river was gorgeous the day you took this photo.
Golly this has just about everything. The wake from the boat adds to the perspective of the river. Even the trailing smoke has beauty of its own. Well captured. Would that my house overlooked such beauty.
What a delightful view this is, thank you for joining in with Sky Watch... Enjoy :O)
I hate the thought of a factory contributing to this (all things urban tend to grate on my naturalist nerves,) but the photo is quite lovely!
Lovely shot. I like the reflection of the colours in the water.
Gorgeous shot!!
Fantastic, as always!!
That's an amazing view of the CT River. That waterway is beautiful.
Didn't I comment earlier? I certainly thought I had, so this round I'll just say that it's not only lovely but interesting.

Your today post is fantastic; I love that silver-purple color, it looks like a bronze engraving. Thanks for this gorgeous view, Lin.

What amazing photos you have on your site.
I love the moody sky shot.
Hallo from North Norway. Last week I saw all Sky Watch Friday photos and they were all great, and I hope to see them all this week too. I love to travel around the world this way.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful sky watch photos and have a great weekend!
Wonderfully atmospheric photo. I'm so glad you are on the mend.
Beautiful shot. That looks smoky... Go easy on the computers.
Awesome shot, Lin!
HI Lin,
Just spending ten (very quick) minutes on a PC in the hotel's business centre. Saw your comment on my blog and the mention of the fact that you had been ill.
Simply had to take the time to visit your site and to say I hope you're on the mend and feeling better.
God bless
David
Nice to hear you're feeling better. Drink black tea (Earl Grey) to help reduce the swelling in your ankles. I suffer from leg swelling too if I sit too long at the computer.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's an honour to have you linked to my conservation / nature roll.
Thank you very much everyone for your kind comments and good wishes. I'm trying catch up slowly and hope to get back into a routine again soon. Enjoy your weekend!
David, I hope you are enjoying your holiday! Nice of you to take the time to stop by. :)
I am visiting again to let you know that you have two awards awaiting you at my blog! Have a great week...Roxanne
That's a beautiful photo! Nice shot, Lin. Hope you'll fully recovered soon. :-)
Oh feel better, Sandpiper, as I am working on also. I have the swollen ankle thingy, too, and work 2 jobs at the computer and come home and email and blog!!! Who knew? I so appreciated your comment on my blog, thank you, and your dramatic photo of the sunset going down in the gunmetal water and sky--awesome (as usual!) ;o)
Again...you feel better right this minute! ^;^
Glad you are doing better.-That spot on the river looks awfully familiar to me.
