SkyWatch: Silvery Venus - Red Dawn

Looking over toward Newport, Rhode Island at dawn, Venus was shining like a silvery star in the sky...
.
And as I moved in for a closer look at the sleepy town, there were Christmas lights decorating a pier.
.
The "Visit New England" website states: "Newport is famous for its natural seaside beauty and for the magnificent mansions and gardens built there by the industrial barons of America’s Gilded Age."
.

.
I'm not feeling well today, but I had this post ready for Skywatch Friday hosted by Tom Wigley, so I'm putting it up now. I might not get by to visit blogs, so I won't list it at Tom's today, unless I start to feel better. I'll probably take the next few days off from posting, since it's a holiday weekend here. Have a great weekend everyone.
.
To those who are newcomers, the most recent nature walk is here:
.
Just A Little Walk 1
Just A Little Walk 2
.
Thank you for stopping by!

Wow, I love the colors!! Great shots Lin. It has been so cold I have not gone out to catch any of our sunrise / sunsets but I hope to remedy that in about 4 weeks time when it gets warmer.

It is well known that we Portuguese once sailed the seven seas searching for new lands, wealth and adventures.
We were brave in those days and gave the world new worlds!

Luckily I don’t have to sail the big oceans on a small ship to sea the wonders of our world …
No Sir, I just need to check with Mr. Tom, the finest host there is, for a trip around the world with SKY WATCH TOURS and with a click here, a click there I am quickly in the USA, England, Brazil, Italy, China, Australia, Finland … well, everywhere.

And on each stop I come to see a little marvel of our world under a great sky!
Hope you can come and see my piece of the sky at lenses & visions

Hope you feel well pretty soon.
Happy 4th of July.

Great shot of Venus... I've always had trouble getting a shot of my favorite planet and celestial body... then I'm a fairly amateur photographer... I'll keep trying and erring...

Hope you're feeling better...

I would LOVE to visit New England someday ~ especially in fall when the leaves are turning colour. Those are beautiful pictures!

I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Also deeply touched that you let your "followers" know. That's a good idea though for me to keep in mind to let people know that I might not post comments for a few days. I love these two photos. So soothing.

I also was wondering if I missed a post telling what happened to the mother swan and her young. I've thought of them several times and wondered if they made it.

And yes, take care of yourself and rest and take TOTAL TIME OUT just for YOU!! I need to do the same here soon, can't keep going this pace. Hugs, RainforestRobin

So nice. I ashamed to admit that I've never been to Newport, and I've lived in Maine for almost eight year! Hope you're having a great trip.

Great sunset capture! I just love your page - very nicely done and it's as if I'm there along side taking the nature walk myself. BTW, the shot of the cardinal flapping his wings is my fav so far.
