A Sanctuary Quick Walk

Water Lilies. These pictures were taken at the sanctuary just down the road from my house.

The pond is filled with lilies in bloom now.

With the tropical kind of weather that we have been experiencing this summer, the Indian Pipe, as well as fungi are coming up earlier than usual here. (For those who might not be familiar with it, Indian Pipe is not a fungus)

Ebony Jewelwing

I was taking a picture of the rose, and as I snapped the picture, the bee unexpectedly flew up out of the flower. I didn't even know it was there.

It rested briefly on a leaf just above the flower

A bud. These flowers have a wonderful fragrance

I spotted this frog on a lily pad.
.
I'm still not feeling all that great, so I'm going to take my time coming back. I do have a bunch of walks to share with you, but it bothers me to sit here for too long. I'll be back to my old self soon. In the meantime, I hope that all of you are well. I miss visiting your blogs and look forward to catching up.
.
Thanks for all of your comments and your good wishes.

I love frogs, always have.
Sadly where I grew up they were rather scarce, and the one pond I knew I could find some in the spring now has a railway running there instead.

Each frame is better than the one before! I thought when I saw the water lilies that nothing could be better. But the frog was the perfect finale. And all the stuff in between was incredible.

I noticed last week that the water lilies are out. There is a small lake nearby when I can find some. And Indian Pipes too, I wonder if I can find them soon in another favorite location. I find they are difficult to get a good photo of but yours are lovely. Cute little frog too. Hope you're on the mend soon.

More wonderful shots! The bee getting in on things made a good shot spectacular. And that frog! We're having a lot of mushrooms, et al pop up too in beds and in the grass.

I love these morning "walks." Great white water lily shots - I have trouble getting shots of the white ones the way I want them.

Sorry to hear you are still sick. Hope you get your strength back soon. The pictures are all wonderful! I love the water lilies...they look so perfect and serene. Those Indian Pipes are really interesting looking! Beautiful photo! Beautiful Jewelwing....I haven't seen one of those. The rose and bee shots are great. The bee is just suspended in mid-air and the flower is lit up so pretty. I love the bud! Cute little frog :-) As always....photos full of light.

Awesome series, I really loved the bee hovering over the rose. Sometimes 99% of good photography is just being lucky.

What a wonderful nature sanctuary to have so close to your home! Great pictures of the Jewelwing (lovely name, too) and the hovering bee. Waterlilies always make me think of Claude Monet - very beautiful. Don't worry about visiting - just get well soon. :)

For the first time in many years I hear bull frogs calling from my backyard pond. There are few sounds I like more. So soothing...to me at least.

As always, amazing photos. And it's been YEARS since I've seen Indian Pipe! Thanks for stirring the memories.

A great floral walk and what luck to catch that bee in flight.

Ebony Jewelwing is such a well-studied damselfly. We have a similar looking frog over here which is beautiful as far as frogs go.
