This is one visitor I could do without... Still he's cute. A rat came up from the brook last week. We haven't seen any in years. Fortunately, he didn't stick around..jpg)

Wonderful, as always - the RBWP is too much, with his feathers sticking out!
I'm glad you were back for a post and feeling better....super shots! I just adore your squirrels and tomorrow I'll be posting some unusual cousins of them. That one who OWNs the tree is really spunky looking. Love the red-bellied, especially the one with the wild hair! Enjoy what's left of the weekend and hope you are much better by Monday.
Double - no - triple - no - quadruple Wow!!!
Amazing pictures and the little Punk Pecker is the icing on the cake!
Fantastic!
Cheers, Klaus
Excellent pictures. And yes, the rat is cute, too. If it has fur, then it's cute.
so many glamourous shots, but for the rat - yuk - the only word I would use to describe that filthy, creepy, disturbing creature is troublesome. I hate rats.
They are all quite cute... anything with whiskers are considered cute in my book!

Who needs Punxatawny Phil, indeed? Not when you have so many wonderful backyard critters to photograph. Great photos, as usual, Lin. I think the Punk Pecker would have to be my favorite.
was that a RAT!!! gave me a laugh...those are some loverly photos of the pecker...hope you feel better...cheers.
Lin, just wonderful once more and I've never seen a ground hog before.
Hope you are feeling better today. Debs x
Great post Lin, you've caught the character of all the mammals really well. The woodpecker shots are fantastic too.
Gorgeous and wonderful images in this post! The ones of the red head are my favorites..next to the squirrels.
Perhaps when you're up to it come by and read about ~Mandy~ in my post titled Sharing and Caring!
Amazing!
I love these walks.
LOVE the woodpecker shots!!
Wonderful images Lin. You have such an eye for the perfect shot. Hope you are feeling much better very soon. Have a wonderful day!
Hope you feel better son. I just love that woodpecker
Refreshing and wonderful - your photos and the commentary on the red bellied was very funny!
I am currently reading a book of stories about squirrels (non-fiction) by a woman who lives in NY City and who fed the squirrels in her apartment! for a number of years. It's great. glad you are feeling better enough to take photos and post. Rest is the best medicine, drink plenty of water. You know that old adage is true in my opinion.
i love the groundhog and the woodpecker! when can i see them in person? in my dreams for now!
I love the fury creatures. The birds a cute too.

Lin: I love all your shots and The woodpecker ones are super. I love a close capture in the wild. You can keep the rat, sorry.
These are beautiful. I wish we had woodchucks around here, they look lovely.
nothing like the comics ma nature shares with us, thx lin :)
and don't rush getting well, it takes time, so take all you need....
Glad you're feeling a bit better. Hope you're back to 100% soon!
We have a rat visitor, too. Personally I'd rather have a rat or two than 3 or more squirrels. At least the rats won't clean you out & they can be started away by the birds! Then again, squirrels are my mortal enemy...
Oh, what a neat post. I just love the hair-do on that Red Bellied! I really wish we has squirrels, BUT we need Azrael to keep the chipmunk and mouse population under control since we live inthe country. Last year we had a chippy crawl up my dryer vent hose ( under the flap) and got stuck in the dryer, and became electrocuted. We didn't find out about it till we detected a foul oder coming from the basement. I now have a brand new dryer.
There is a town about 25 miles from here that has lots of black squirrels in town. Maybe some day we'll drive over there and try to get some photos.
So glad you're feeling better.
I am so glad to have you back again. Beautiful squirrel and woodpecker pics Lin!!
I love these photo's, especially the ones of the little fat woodpecker. How cute they are. Have a lovely week! Roxanne
Glad you're better! Love the red-head, and he really does need a new barber!
Cracking series as always! The sleepy Squirrels look as if they've been out partying late night! They are very cute.
Well you outdid yourself on the grackle and woodpecker!!! Great photos Lin.
Hope you get to feeling yourself real soon.

Just gorgeous. I wish we had squirrels here and that woodpecker did have some difficult kind of a hairstyle. His mate looked much more groomed.
My good friend, as usual excellent photos here.
As for the rest, take care!
Glad to hear you're feeling better. Still - take it easy.
I get such a kick out of seeing squirrels really take it easy. they just stretch out and relax like no one else.
Those darned squirrels! I like the gray ones fine; it's the reds that drive me nuts at the feeder. They are loud and aggressive and fearless!
The woodpecker is amazing. You really got some great shots of him.
Sorry I've not come by in a while; did not know you've been sick. Glad you're on the mend. Sending good wishes your way.
