Beautiful Day For A Walk 1

It was a beautiful June day, so I decided to take a walk along a quiet trail. At the entrance are a couple of stone columns and an old rusted wrought iron fence
.
I stopped to look at the shapes, textures, shadows, and light on the posts
.
There is something appealing about things like this to me. A sort of romance of a time gone by, I suppose. I imagine the people who once placed this fence here and enjoyed this property as a home, before it became part of this private nature preserve

Normally, this is a quiet trail, but on this day, I spotted a group of people up ahead on an old bridge. People on horses, people on bikes, a truck on this former road that doesn't permit ordinary travel, and two park people carrying ladders

When the crowd finally broke up and the truck left, I headed out onto the trail.

I zoomed in on this gal from a distance.

Now that I was finally alone, I was able to concentrate on things of nature
.
Deptford Pink, a type of Dianthus
.
On the bridge where those people had been gathering, I spotted this spider web. You might have click on the picture to enlarge it in order to see it

A couple of guys were out on the water enjoying the sights from a different vantage point
.
I spotted this dragonfly nearby. I don't know the names of dragonflies
.
A view of the guys as they headed down the river.
.
The dappled light and shadows were really nice at they showed off the ferns and leaves
.
Black-Eyed Susans were in bloom
.
The reflections on the water showed what a beautiful day it was
.
Clover.
.
Part 2 is here: Beautiful Day For A Walk 2
.
Thank you for your continued visits while I was sick. I appreciate all the notes and good wishes from you. I'll be trying to catch up all week, and then hopefully, fall into a routine again.
.
Thank you, Roxanne, a talented artist at River Garden Studio for giving me two awards, "Blog of Distinction" and "Brillante Weblog", which are now placed on my Awards Page. I'm deeply touched.

What a nice walk. I love it all. (The gates and columns for sure, and I love what you said about them.) The fern picture is perfect. And I love the sky reflecting in the pool of water.

You really captured the spirit of summer with your photos. With the humidity we've been having it's a lot more comfortable to read your blog than it is to be outside.

I think the fern shot is my favorite! I really like the close up of the clover as well! And like you say - fences are wonderful to inspect and wonder about their past lives!

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the nice comments and good wishes.

Bird Lady, Thank you for asking about Mr. Sandpiper. He's doing very well, but still has some upcoming follow-up visits to the doctor. Mom is doing okay, too, but seems to have good days and bad days.

Laughing Wolf, this place is in Connecticut.

Thank you!
