Baby Squirrels Wrestling

Some of you might remember that I have had squirrels nesting in a tree just outside my window. The babies have left the nest now, but the other day, they were playing on the cut portion of the nesting tree.
. Note: On the bottom right in the foreground, there is a hole in the top of the stump
. They were wrestling for a long time, often coming very close to the hole.
.
Occasionally they straddled the hole and other times they lay on top of it
.

They stopped wrestling briefly, and here they are, both looking down into the hole.
.

Then, the wrestling resumed
.

Tumbling all around, sometimes standing up, sometimes doing somersaults
.

"I'll push you off!"
.

Instead, the squirrel dropped down into the hole!
.

Half of him is inside the hole as they duke it out
.

And the battle continued
.

He finally fell all the way into the hole.
.
This one is yelling, "Hey! Are you okay down there?"
.

"Grab my hand and I'll help you up!"
.
But, the other squirrel stayed down there for awhile, and this one looked very forlorn
.
Suddenly, the one in the hole shot up like a Jack-in-the-box! The second squirrel was startled, but quickly recovered and tackled him!
.
It was such fun to watch them!
.
It's another day of taking care of my family, so I don't know how much computer time I'll have. Have a great day!

Oh Goodie!! I am first today with a comment and not last as usual!! LOL!! These are fantastic Lin. I can watch them for hours and you have captured their play so well.

Thanks for showing me the Squirrels Wrestling. An by the way how much time did the wrestling show last? Because as far as I know squirrels don't wait at a spot for more than a couple of seconds. And you must have shot them really fast. In that case the photos were really great :)

Hi Lin! I've missed visiting you.

Your narrative/improvisation is PERFECT! I laughed all the way through. I've never seen wrestling squirrels. I would have had a field day with this series of photos, too. We are alike :o)

Hi everyone, Sorry to be so slow in replying. This has been a week I wouldn't want to repeat any time soon. lol

Thansk for stopping by. I'm really glad you enjoyed the squirrels. I have such fun watching them. Unfortunately, my computer gave a hiccup and somehow the originals are lost, so I only have these small pictures. This morning the two squirrels were out there again, so maybe I'll get another chance to take pictures.

Sekhar, they were out there for a long time. That's the tree where most of my squirrels are born and they spend hours there sleeping and playing on the tree. When the weather is bad, they hide in the holes. Since the main living area of my house is on the second story, my windows are in the treetops, so I get to see things that most people might not get to see.

Hi David, Thanks for stopping by and commenting! That was really nice of Dave. He's a good guy.

Hi Dexter - yes! Rumble is right! They certainly do!

I haven't had a chance to visit blogs yet, but I just took Mom home, so I should have a bit more time over the next couple of days. I've missed the visits and can't wait to catch up.

Oh how I wish I could be there for that circus act! You did a great job capturing in on film. YOur next challenge, should you be willing to accept it, is to tape these two acrobatic comics and put it in here for our daily amusement. What fun this was what fun that would be! David sent me, so glad he did, cause this is just what makes a morning!

Hi, I've never visited before. I arrived via David McMahon and Sandi. Your photography is amazing and what a beautiful thing to witness. I've just been checking on my tadpoles who are now walking, so out of danger if we have no more rain. Phew. Lovely post, I'll come back and check out some more of your posts. Thanks for sharing. Debs x

That is the funniest photo series I think I've ever seen. What's cuter than squirrels wrestling? Hilarious and adorable.

Congratulations on Post of the Day at David's! It's well-deserved!

Thanks, so much everyone. I haven't been on the computer this morning. It's been a rough couple of weeks here. "Mr. Sandpiper" is recovering from eye surgery now, along with a bunch of other things going on. So, if I'm not replying and visiting blogs as much as I normally do, I promise I'll catch up soon.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the squirrel sequence. I never tire of watching them.

Sandi, I'll see what I can do about making a new video. I have made a few small ones that are fun, but not of them wrestling. It's a good idea.

Hi Debs, Your tadpoles sound interesting. You're a bit ahead of us. I saw some here a few days ago, but they still look fish with big heads. ;-)

Hi Sukipoet, Thank you for visiting and commenting.

Hi Jennifer, The squirrels are so much fun. I watch them from nesting until they leave the nest and then enjoy their visits into adulthood. Thank you for letting me know that David had done such a nice thing! I'll be sure to go there and thank him.

I'll be by to visit all of your blogs. I'm just dealing with a lot here right now, so grabbing time on the computer when I can.
